A solar system walk is two things: a route through a real neighborhood chosen by someone who lives there, and a piece of artwork by an artist from that same place.

We're a small independent project — literally just one person, for now.
- Artwork commissions are discussed on a per-piece basis, paid half up front and half on delivery.
You'll get a one-page terms sheet with the agreed upon numbers filled in before work commences.
Where the rest of the money goes
Once a walk has covered what it cost to make, a share of what's left goes back into that community to a local organization chosen together with the artist and the person who built the walk.

Who we're looking for
- Artists who live in the place they'd be representing. The pieces that land are made by people who already had opinions about the neighborhood.
- People who want to give something back to where they live.
Getting in touch
Artists: send a portfolio link. If there's a city or a walk you have in mind, say so.
Community leaders: the fastest thing you can do is draw the walk and submit it. If you're also an artist, let us know — we expect these to be different roles, but we're ecstatic when the community leader is also the artist.
Right now SolarSystem.city is just one person. I read everything and reply to everything, though not always quickly — expect a few days for a response.
