About this place
The end of the walk, four miles from a mosaic globe at 12th and Filbert. Daniel Chester French carved this group for Philadelphia's federal building; when that came down in 1937 the city moved it out here, where it now sits behind the Mann Center regarding the middle distance. French went on to carve the seated Lincoln in Washington. Neptune takes 165 years to orbit the Sun — it has completed exactly one circuit since its discovery in 1846, finishing in 2011.
