Jupiter
Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park

📍 The brick apron on the fountain's east side gives you the fountain and the skyline in one shot. The main jet fires on the hour for twenty minutes between April and October, and it is worth waiting for if you are close.

About this place
The gap opens. Jupiter is 0.91 miles from the sundial and 10.25 inches across — three times the width of the wallet card, and the largest thing you will see all walk.
While you're here
- Grant Park Green space The lawns run in every direction from here. In summer this is the middle of festival season — check what is on before you plan a quiet stop.
Keep north through Grant Park to DuSable Harbor, about fifteen minutes on foot, and pick up a Divvy at the dock there. This is the natural handover point — from here the legs get long, and the last three stops are a ride rather than a walk. Cross the river on the lakefront path and follow the trail east; the Ferris wheel is your landmark all the way in.
